The Early Scholars Test Preparation Tutoring Program offers a free diagnostic assessment to determine your child’s skill level.
NYS ELA and Math Test
Students in grades 3 to 8 must take the NYS ELA and Math Test. It measures whether a child has gained the core competencies for the academic year. With new Common Core Standards Initiative, the content on the tests has become even more challenging.
NYC Gifted and Talented Test
The Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) and the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT-2) are used for entrance into New York City public schools’ gifted and talented programs.
Early Childhood Admissions Test
The Educational Records Bureau (ERB) administers the Early Childhood Admissions Assessment (ECAA), which is the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, 3rd edition (WPPSI-III). This test is used in New York City independent schools for entry into pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs.
- DiagnosticsOur process begins with an initial 60-minute diagnostic session, where the OLSAT-Gifted and Talented Test assess children on verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning ability. The ERB–Private School Admission Test determines children’s ability to analyze picture concepts, coding, block design, matrix reasoning, vocabulary, similarities, word reasoning and comprehension.
At the end of the assessment, parents will have a detailed portrait of their child’s strength, weaknesses and plan of action for success. Our staff members provide each child with an individualized curriculum. In addition, we offer parents weekly updates of their child’s progress, with suggestions for games and activities to strengthen areas of difficulty.
- Mock TestWe have developed fun, child-friendly activities for each area of the test. To simulate the novelty of the real test environment, children are periodically given a mock test to determine their progress and readiness.
To prepare for these challenges, the Early Scholars Learning Center provides effective reading tutoring in Bayside. Children will actually enjoy these engaging sessions at our leading tutor center. Besides math and science tutoring, we offer test preparation services at our math tutoring center.
